Sara Fulmer

Program: Developmental

Research Interest: Sara’s general interest involves the relationships among children’s motivation, academic achievement, and learning. Specifically, she is interested in understanding the contextual and instructional factors that can support or undermine children’s intrinsic motivation and persistence. Her research also focuses on the integration of various theoretical and methodological approaches to the measurement of motivation. Sara’s past research on reading motivation has explored the developmental course of motivation from Kindergarten to Grade 8, the relationship between motivation and achievement for reading disabled and normally developing readers, and the impact of interest and challenge on motivation.
