The Notre Dame Study of Health and Well-being

The Notre Dame Study of Health and Well-being is a longitudinal study funded by the National Institutes of Aging. We are looking for adults aged 40-75 to participate. This study focuses on different aspects of health and well-being in adults. We are interested in learning about your physical health, your perceptions about life in general, and your thoughts, attitudes and feelings about different aspects of your life to help us understand how and why people age differently. If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please contact the Project coordinator at dgarrast@nd.edu or (574) 631-2913, or visit our website at http://adalab.nd.edu.

Cindy Bergman is the Primary Investigator of the Notre Dame Study of Health and Well-being and the Director of The Adult Development and Aging Lab.

Chronic Low Back Pain Project

The Chronic Low Back Pain Project is a federally funded research project being conducted at several sites across the country. The goal is to help couples understand how they can best communicate about and cope with Chronic Low Back Pain.

We are now seeking couples in which one spouse has been diagnosed with Chronic Low Back Pain. Couples can earn up to $450 for participating. The first part of the study involves two, 2-hour sessions at our clinic where we have couples discuss a topic together, complete questionnaires and do various tasks such as sitting in a chair and walking. Couples are paid $150 total for these sessions. Couples can also take part in our diary study during which they complete questions on Palm Pilots several times a day for two weeks. Couples are paid up to $300 for this.

If you are interested in participating or have any questions about our study, please feel free to call the Martial Therapy and Research Clinic at (574) 631-9640. For more information, you can also visit the following website: http://www.nd.edu/~pmtrc/research.html.

Me and My Family Project

The Me and My Family Project is funded by the National Institutes of Mental Health and has research sites at both the University of Notre Dame and the University of Rochester. Its goal is to better understand family relations as well as children's development in their families.

Although previous families will be returning, we are also looking for new families with a child in the seventh grade. Families will be compensated for their participation. If you are interested in participating, please contact the project office at (574) 631-8987.

Vists are very engaging and will involve questionnaires, interviews, and other interactive activities for the families. Although previous families will be returning, we are also looking for new families with a child in the seventh grade. Families will be compensated for their participation. If you are interested in participating, please contact the project office at (574) 631-8987.
