Undergraduate Program

Senior Honors Program

Every year a select group of psychology majors are identified and invited to complete the year long senior honors thesis in psychology.  This sequence involves seniors working closely with a faculty research mentor on a research project for the year, culminating in a colloquium type presentation to the department at the conclusion of the academic year.

Projects typically expose undergraduates to all aspects of the research process from formulating research hypotheses from theoretical questions of interest, designing studies, collecting data, performing the analyses and writing up the manuscript to students working with faculty on ongoing research projects.

Invited students are identified by a number of mechanisms such as grades, statistics and methods course performance, faculty nominations, and prior research exposure.  Interested students may also apply for consideration.  Students who are focused on entering research oriented graduate programs in psychology are encouraged to investigate this option.
