Research Interests: Emily is interested in several lines of research relevant to familial and formal educational settings. Her interests include the impact of parental emotion regulation on child attachment, emotion-regulation, and academic achievement, as well as factors that negatively impact and could improve child emotion-regulation, character development, and academic perseverance and achievement. She is also interested in exploring the effect of reading and discussing fiction (i.e. in family settings) on child social and emotional development, meaning-making, and the development of character strengths including purpose, curiosity, and social intelligence.
