Exploratory Factor Analysis with Incomplete Correlation Matrices by Minami Hattori.
A number of scales often exist for measuring complex constructs such as narcissism, and studies of such constructs may involve multiple scales. When meta-analyzing the results from these studies, not all combinations of included scales are paired. Thus, a resulting correlation matrix would be incomplete with missing elements. We adapt the iterated principal factor method for estimating exploratory factor analysis models with incomplete correlation matrices. We discuss identifiability checks and parametric bootstrap. We also conduct a Monte Carlo study to assess statistical properties of the proposed method.
