Precision Brain Mapping Lab

Professor Du is open to admitting graduate students for fall 2027 matriculation.

Primary Area: Cognition, Brain, and Behavior

Biography

Dr. Jingnan Du is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Notre Dame, where he directs the Precision Brain Mapping Lab. His research focuses on the organization of large-scale human brain networks and their roles in higher-order cognitive functions, such as language processing, social inference, cognitive control, and episodic memory.

Combining precision neuroimaging, behavioral experiments, and computational methods, he characterizes parallel networks and their functional specialization within association zones across the cerebral cortex, cerebellum, striatum, and thalamus. His recent work revealed two nested, distributed language networks that support distinct components of language processing. He also developed the DU15NET atlases, a novel 15-network parcellation of the cerebral cortex. Working with clinicians, he maps individualized brain networks and examines how these personalized maps can inform neurosurgical planning and the selection of neuromodulation targets.
