Adedoyin's research focuses on understanding how societal structures contribute to stigma, and the implications for the biopsychosocial development of war-affected youths and their families. Adedoyin is also interested in documenting how structural forms of stigma such as cultural norms, institutional policies and practices constrain the opportunities, resources, and wellbeing of the stigmatized especially those from low-to-middle income countries experiencing conflict. Her experiences working with youths in Nigeria have made her particularly interested in producing research that affects positive policy change to support invaluable preventions methods through family support in countries affected by conflicts. At Notre Dame, she hopes to gain the tools needed push past what western literature has to offer in an attempt to explore the intersectionality between structural stigma, family, and trauma as it applies to war-affected youths and their families.
