Irene’s research is oriented around understanding the transition from suicidal ideation to suicidal behaviors, especially the distal and proximal social, cognitive and affective factors involved in the decision making process. In particular, Irene is interested in examining these factors through the lens of populations that have been underrepresented in research and clinical settings but experience elevated suicide risk (e.g., racial and gender minorities).
