Claire Scott-Bacon, Ph.D. '24

Clinical-Forensic Psychologist at the St. Joseph County Probate Court

"I chose Notre Dame because of the very successful grants & fellowship awards and research funding opportunities. Due to my deep forensic-psychology, criminal law interest, and career goals, I chose the Clinical Psychology program to gain experience in personality and psychopathology measurement, assessment, scale development, psychotherapy, and research. Along the way, I gained teaching experience, developed a wide range of quantitative statistical skills, forensic practicum experiences, and ran an independent research psychology & law research lab within my advisor's CAMPP lab. All of this experience prepared me for working in the field of clinical psychology and the criminal justice system. I gained so much experience and developed such a well rounded network of legal professionals and clinical colleagues during my practicum experiences, that prior to my graduation, I had a job waiting for me in the local court system."

  • Adam Vilanova-Goldstein, Ph.D. '24

Assistant Director of the Shaw Center for Children and Families

"I chose Notre Dame's Cognition, Brain, and Behavior program for its rigorous focus on cutting-edge research and its emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration. The Psychology Department's commitment to fostering intellectual curiosity and providing exceptional mentorship created an ideal environment for exploring the complexities of human cognition and behavior."

  • Brenna Gomer, Ph.D. ’21

Assistant Professor of Psychology, Utah State University

"The quantitative psychology program at ND really prepared me well for a career in academia. The coursework is very rigorous and has made me feel qualified to teach a wide range of methodological courses. However, the most valuable aspect of my training came from the faculty: the mentoring I received from quantitative faculty — all at the top of their field — was truly exceptional. Their guidance and passion for developing statistical methodology have been pivotal when it comes to making novel contributions in my own research.”

  • Holly Levin-Aspenson, Ph.D. ’20

Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology, University of North Texas

"I chose Notre Dame for the opportunities it provides for quantitative training, professional development, and mentorship from highly accomplished faculty. I appreciate the resources available to students and efforts the clinical area of the psychology department have made to continually improve clinical and research training. The professional development resources and mentorship provided through my program have been invaluable on the academic job market.”

  • Joe Pauszek, Ph.D. ’19

Senior Human Factors Scientist, Research Collective

"The Department of Psychology offers a stellar curriculum to refine fundamental research skills related to experimental design, statistical analysis, and scientific communication. Beyond this, the holistic mentorship and collaborative opportunities afforded to me at Notre Dame also nurtured my abilities to be mentally flexible, ask productive questions, and integrate research from disparate fields of study. These latter abilities, in particular, have proven invaluable to my professional growth and success as a consultant in the private sector.”
